UCLA DA 800.55: Appointment of Design Professionals

Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to your position, the authority to appoint executive architects, executive landscape architects, executive and consulting engineers, and other professionals and consultants (design professionals) for renovation projects with approved budgets, with total individual project costs not exceeding $10,000,000 for the Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, Medical Plaza 200, Medical Plaza 300, Tiverton Guest House, West Medical Building or off-campus medical offices and clinical laboratories. Following approval at the appropriate level, you are further authorized to execute necessary design professionals agreements regardless of project cost.

This authority does not extend to:

  1. Design related to renovation projects in UCLA buildings occupied by the School of Medicine and/or Medical Center but also occupied by other tenants, including 100 Medical Plaza, 924 Westwood, and the Wilshire Center; or

  2. Design related to construction of any new University-owned building, on- or off-campus.
This authority shall be exercised in accordance with the requirements of Reference (b), above, and is applicable to all renovation projects with approved budgets on property owned by The Regents or on property which will be owned by The Regents upon completion of the project. Total individual project cost shall be defined as all costs of the project including administrative, design, construction, interest accrued during construction, and equipment costs.

All agreements must be approved as to legal form by the General Counsel prior to execution unless the agreement is in a form previously approved by that office and is issued without revision.

This delegation is being reissued to increase total project costs to $10,000,000 and limit authority to renovation projects for the specified on- and off-campus buildings. Any redelegation of this authority shall be in writing with copies to me and those listed below.
