Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to you, as Chief of Police, the authority to enter into and sign on behalf of UCLA the “Memorandum of Agreement Between the Los Angeles Police Department and the University of California Police Department – Los Angeles”. The term of this Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) commences on July 1, 2011 and shall expire on June 30, 2016. This delegation does not authorize you to enter into or sign any modifications to the MOA.

This MOA is being entered into for the purposes of establishing guidelines and clarifying agency jurisdiction for investigation of Part 1 violent crimes as mandated by Section 67381(c) of the California Education Code, also known as the Kristin Smart Campus Safety Act of 1998, and defining operational responsibilities and working relationships between the Los Angeles Police Department and UCLA Police. This MOA is also in accordance with the Implementation Guidelines, University of California, SB 1729, School Safety.

The MOA must be approved as to legal form by the General Counsel prior to execution unless the agreement is in a form previously approved by that office and is issued without revision.

This authority may not be further redelegated.
