UCLA DA 260.02: Administration of the UCLA Controlled Substances Program

Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to your position, the authority to act as the Responsible Official for ongoing oversight of the Controlled Substances Program at UCLA, in accordance with the provisions of the University of California Policy on Controlled Substances (reference (a) above) and all applicable federal and State laws. This delegation affirms the duties and responsibilities which you exercise at the behest of the Chancellor, and formally documents this authority in fulfillment of the University of California Policy BFB-BUS-50: Controlled Substances.

As Vice Chancellor for Research and Responsible Official, your responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Establishing and overseeing the Controlled Substances Program in accordance with DEA regulations and best practices;

  • Signing all DEA registrations on behalf of the UC Regents; and

  • As appropriate, granting Power of Attorney to managers to enable them to obtain and execute order forms for controlled substances (i.e., DEA Form 222). The Responsible Official may designate one or more individuals to implement and manage the program.
This delegation is being reissued to allow for redelegation.
