UCLA DA 255.02: Administration of the Human Research Protection Program at UCLA

Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to you, as Vice Chancellor for Research, the authority to act as the Institutional Official for ongoing oversight of the Human Research Protection Program at UCLA, in accordance with the provisions of the University Policy on the Protection of Human Subjects in Research and all applicable federal and State laws. This delegation affirms the duties and responsibilities which you have been exercising at the behest of the Chancellor, and formally documents this authority in fulfillment of accreditation Element I.1.C of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs.

As Vice Chancellor for Research and Institutional Official, your responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

service as the signatory Institutional Official for UCLA's Federalwide Assurance and other applicable assurances;

periodic review of the resources allocated to the human research protection program; and

periodic evaluation of whether the number of Institutional Review Boards is appropriate to the volume and types of human research reviewed, so that reviews are accomplished in a thorough and timely manner.

This delegation is being reissued due to an organization change and there are no substantive changes to the delegation being superseded. This authority may not be further redelegated.
