UCLA DA 800.65: Appointment of Design Professionals

Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to you, in your area of responsibility, the authority to appoint executive architects, executive landscape architects, executive and consulting engineers, and other professionals and consultants (design professionals) for projects with approved budgets with total individual project cost not exceeding $250,000. Following approval at the appropriate level, you are further authorized to execute necessary design professionals agreements (including professional services agreements) regardless of project cost.

This authority shall be exercised in accordance with the requirements of Reference (b), above, and is applicable to all projects in your area of responsibility with approved budgets on property owned by The Regents or on property which will be owned by The Regents upon completion of the project. Total individual project cost shall be defined as all costs of the project including administrative, design, construction, interest accrued during construction, and equipment costs.

You shall ensure that Medical Center staff coordinate with Capital Programs Capital Planning & Finance staff to provide all relevant financial data required for documenting a project to the Office of the President and/or The Regents, as appropriate. Capital Programs staff will be responsible for providing project approvals, contract services, project accounting services and inspection services, and any other related services as may be required to support the management of a project.

All agreements must be approved as to legal form by the General Counsel prior to execution unless the agreement is in a form previously approved by that office and is issued without revision.

This authority may not be further redelegated.
