Effective as of the date above, I hereby delegate to you, within your respective areas of responsibility, the authority to approve the employment of near relatives in the same department, provided that such concurrent employment would be in the best interest of the University. As specified in UC PPSM 21, a near relative is defined as a spouse, domestic partner, parent, child (including the child of a domestic partner), or sibling. In-laws and step-relatives in the relationships listed, including relatives of the domestic partner who would be covered if the domestic partner were the employee’s spouse, are also defined as near relatives.

This delegation is being reissued due to an organization change and there are no substantive changes to the delegation being superseded except for the definition of near relatives. Any redelegation of this authority shall be in writing with copies to me and to those listed below.
